Career Research Internet Project
The following computer programs must be completed, complete with approprite printouts, and included in the portfolio.
- Take the Keirsey Character Sorter and the Keirsey Temperment Sorter II online at http://www.keirsey.com You will come up with a 4 letter personality type (for example: ENTJ, ISTJ, etc) On the main page you will find several sites where you can look up information about your particular type. Go to “Sixteen Types”, click on your 4 letter type and print the information found there.
- Take the Career Key interest inventory at http://www.ncsu.edu/careerkey/ When you come to the main page, click on the word “You”. Fill in the appropriate information (email address is optional) and then take “The Career Key Measure.” Print a copy of the results for your file. At the end, you will be given a list of careers you might find interesting. Click on one of the careers that interests you and you should automatically link into the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. (Notes: If it is one of the careers you are researching for your career project, you might want to take a quote from it for question #8 on the worksheet.)
- Visit the O*Net site and explore your chosen career using this site http://online.onetcenter.org/ O*Net, the newest Occupational handbook web site (Can use for question #8 on Career Research worksheets) Choose either “Details” or “Snapshot” and find some information you can use for your Career Research Project or take the “Skills Search” survey.
